While downpipes and gutters are essential to the performance and function of a roof, architects often look to disguise them from view - or hide them completely. Though it is possible to install a downpipe behind the façade, this can make maintenance or repair tricky, and bringing a downpipe inside the outer wall potentially increases risk. The hidden downpipe detail combines the best of both, allowing the downpipe to be masked by the façade, while allowing easy access should upkeep be required. The downpipes do not protrude from the fascia, and can even be turned into a feature. Brackets which open at the front of the downpipe allow for easy installation and removal, and a flush finish. The system shown here is interlocking panel, but this detail also works well with standing seam and our other façade systems. An attractive detail with benefits for the architect and installer, and one which will not lead to any potentially costly maintenance over the life of the building. |
